A video game developer is one of the three most important jobs within the development and creation of a video game. A video game developer has responsiblites similar to a designer in which they are in charge of other key aspects involving a video game’s development. The other key aspects would be mainly be visual creation. Visual creation is crucial for a video game as that is what would appeal to a player to want to try the game. Usually players would see gameplay trailers in which companies would show how their games function and visual content would be involved. The visual content is what the players see both in these trailers and in the games themselves. For example with the LittleBigPlanet it is about players creating worlds of their own. In gameplay trailers they show some examples of what kind of worlds players can create within the game. The art that they see, visual creation, would make them want to try the game out. Visual content will always be a sort of marketing tool for drawing attention to a game and it is very important that they function properly. Coding would be involved like a programmer but not as much as it is mostly dealing with art and using programs like Illustrator and such to create visuals that appease the fans of said game. If you have an artisitic style that you think would be perfect for the world to see and you think it will be incredibly appealing then you should try to make your career as a developer and have the people of the world see your creations for themselves.

The duties and responsibilities of a video game programmer vary as they have different responsiblities when it comes to the project they are working on. As a programmer you are in charge of essentially the core aspects of a video game. The core aspects of a video game would include graphics, physics and even audio. Graphics are how the game would look to the people the project is meant to entertain and the responsibility of the programmer is to ensure that the graphics they create are just right for their intended audience. They would even need to make sure that audio on the game runs smoothly and that there aren’t any errors. The physics of the game are also most important as the physics are what make the game feel so real. The physics allow the player to actually interact with the game and do what they want to do. Though all of these responsibilities involve programming which a programmer must already know at least some of if not most of it. Coding is a key essential towards creating a game as coding allows for the game to function with it’s proper graphics, good audio and outstanding physics. All these core aspects of a game itself are not able to be fully completed without proper coding otherwise the game will not work right or it might not be appealing to the fans that the company is intending to create it for.
Video games are technological machinery that require complex circuitry in order to function properly. This circuitry is also found in the consoles that play. The development of this circuitry comes from those who are knowledgeable about computer science and engineering. There are several different jobs that involve the development of a video game. The main jobs that are of most important when a company is developing a video game is that of a programmer, developer, and designer. The job of a programmer is to develop software or code bases for video games. In all video games there is coding required to be done for such things audio, physics and even graphics this is what a programmer is responsible for creating. The requirements to be a programmer are that you have a bachelor’s degree in information systems, computer science or mathematics. The next of the jobs considered to be important is a video game developer. The responsibility of a video game developer involves the creation of visual content and like a programmer writing codes for to ensure a game has proper functionality. The requirements to be a game developer are the same as a programmer. The last of the main jobs that hold most importance involving the development of a video game is a video game designer. A designer’s responsibility is designing characters, puzzles, art or even animation for the game they are working but they can also have managerial role as they would have to sometimes be responsible for managing tasks on a the project or doing early tests of a game to see how well it functions to ensure there are no errors overlooked. The requirements of a video game designer are a bachelor’s degree in game design, computer engineering and computer science. Meeting the requirements of these jobs will be a difficult task but the tasks of the jobs themselves will be difficult as they each hold great responsibility toward developing a video game.

“Since video games began and chess was on a small computer screen they have developed to now include consoles in arcades and even consoles in our home where we can play games on T.V.’s.”. In the beginning after ‘Chess’ was created by Claude Shannon many other computer games were being created in university and industrial computer labs. At MIT Steve Russell along with others had created a game called ‘Spacewar!’. As more games were being developed what came along were new developments in computing technology for computer scientists to test out and the success of the game known as ‘Pong’, which had come out soon after ‘Chess’, had brought about the creation of companies such as Atari Corporation. At the same time there were developments made into video games in which consoles were developed such as the arcade machines and the first video game console known as the Magnavox Odyssey. While consoles did bring success to video games there were developments being made to the game themselves. The companies were trying to improve the quality of their games and what the games offer in terms of entertainment. One such game that featured new improvement is ‘Hunt the Wumpus’ which introduced a virtual space and had given the opportunity for players to explore a game world. Other game mechanics that were introduced were ‘adventure’, essentially what is akin to Dungeons & Dragons role-playing games, and one such game was ‘Colossal Cave Adventure’. The reason it is important for any developer, designer or programmer to look at this information about the past of video games is to help improve their knowledge. Understanding the history would help them understand how they can better improve not just knowledge but their skill. Seeing the things that developers, designers and programmers were able to create in the past that brought about the evolution of video games could inspire to make great strides in the present.

You’re going to publish a post today. Don’t worry about how your blog looks. Don’t worry if you haven’t given it a name yet, or you’re feeling overwhelmed. Just click the “New Post” button, and tell us why you’re here.
Why do this?
The post can be short or long, a personal intro to your life or a bloggy mission statement, a manifesto for the future or a simple outline of your the types of things you hope to publish.
To help you get started, here are a few questions:
You’re not locked into any of this; one of the wonderful things about blogs is how they constantly evolve as we learn, grow, and interact with one another — but it’s good to know where and why you started, and articulating your goals may just give you a few other post ideas.
Can’t think how to get started? Just write the first thing that pops into your head. Anne Lamott, author of a book on writing we love, says that you need to give yourself permission to write a “crappy first draft”. Anne makes a great point — just start writing, and worry about editing it later.
When you’re ready to publish, give your post three to five tags that describe your blog’s focus — writing, photography, fiction, parenting, food, cars, movies, sports, whatever. These tags will help others who care about your topics find you in the Reader. Make sure one of the tags is “zerotohero,” so other new bloggers can find you, too.
